Seth Rollins was scheduled to square off with Matt Riddle at Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam premium live event. The match has since been called off. The company said that Riddle suffered an injury during an attack by Rollins on Monday’s episode of Raw.

The injury is not legitimate. It’s simply part of storyline. Seth Rollins is still scheduled to be in Nashville for the show, he just won’t be facing Riddle. Ringside News exclusively reported that fans should expect some creative changes going into the show.

After the news broke, Seth Rollins took to Twitter to offer an apology. It could be the case that Rollins’ words are also part of a work. In any case, he said he was sorry to those who paid to see him wrestle.

“For anyone who purchased a ticket to #SummerSlam hoping to see me in action, I apologize. I did everything I could over the last 6 months to earn my spot on this show, but some things are out of my control. Thank you for always singing my song. They’ll hear ya someday.”

The verbiage is similar to that used by Seth Rollins as he lobbied for a match at WrestleMania 38. That ultimately led to the debut of Cody Rhodes, who defeated Rollins. The two feuded until Cody had to undergo surgery for a torn pectoral.

It will be interesting to see if Seth Rollins is still a part of SummerSlam. Fans know that he always has something up his sleeve. What that might be remains to be seen.
