Vince McMahon is no longer the boss of WWE. The 77-year-old announced his decision to step away from the promotion on Wednesday. McMahon has also relinquished his role as the creative head of the company.

PW Insider reported that backstage reaction to the news of Vince McMahon’s departure ranged from surprised to excited. A lot of performers are looking forward to seeing what’s next in store regarding the WWE Creative.

PWInsider.com is told that there’s been a pretty positive reaction in the locker rooms in regard to Vince McMahon’s retirement. While there is some surprise given it was Vince and the belief he would always be around in some form, the idea that there would be a new “energy” for WWE creative has a lot of talents excited to see what comes next.

As previously reported, Brock Lesnar did not like the news of Vince McMahon’s retirement. He was “pretty pissed off” and left the building early.

Vince McMahon is currently under investigation for a major sex scandal. He stepped down from his position as the CEO last month. WWE named Stephanie McMahon interim chairwoman.

Stephanie and Nick Khan were also named co-CEO’s in the wake of Vince McMahon’s departure. We’ll have to see what’s next for WWE now that Vince is no longer at the top.
