AEW has been severely bitten by the injury bug over the last couple of months. Several top main event stars have been on the shelf as Tony Khan tries to piece together the best shows he can. In the meantime, the promotion has a huge pay-per-view on the horizon and Khan is hoping those stars can make it back in time.

CM Punk injured his foot and required surgery. It was recently reported that he was not expected to be out much longer. Kenny Omega is also expected back in time for All Out in September. Bryan Danielson is also targeted for return at All Out, though his status is less clear.

Nothing is set in stone, and things can change in a heartbeat. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the injury status of Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, and Kenny Omega. AEW is hoping they will all return in time for the PPV.

“I mean, he’s [Kenny Omega] hoping to be at All Out, but it’s too soon to say that he will or he won’t… He’s hoping for it. That’s kind of the target right now. The Chicago show I think is the target for that, I think it’s the target for Punk, but I don’t know that either of them are sure things.

Also, it’s probably the target for Danielson, too. Which, would, all those guys coming back, would probably give them a shot in the arm, but like you know, Omega basically was, doesn’t want to talk about it and nothing’s for sure but he would like to be back for that show. That would be a good idea.”

AEW’s injury problems have left them with a lack of star power at the top of the card. With one of the biggest shows of the year just over a month away, Tony Khan is going to need all hands on deck. If CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Kenny Omega can get back in time for the show, it will be a huge boost for the company.
