Wardlow has been on a role since his controversial feud with MJF. The reigning AEW TNT Champion won the title after a dominant performance against Scorpio Sky. Now, he is hoping to convert that momentum into superstardom.

A lot of AEW fans have not been thrilled with the way the TNT title has been handled. It bounced around several times and has lost much of its prestige. Wardlow is hoping to bring that back. He wants to follow in the footsteps of Cody Rhodes and Miro before him by reviving the “open challenge” concept.

Speaking to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Wardlow discussed his plans as champion. He said bringing back the open challenge is his #1 priority. That should come as good news for fans who want to see the championship get some of its shine back.

“That’s actually my number one priority. I want to bring back the open challenge. I’m not sure if that’s what we’re going to do but I would definitely like to bring that back.

Right now I have the original design, which I love, and I don’t have any plans to customize it. If they give me the opportunity, maybe I will, but I do love the original.”

Wardlow is hoping to make the TNT Championship the most talked-about title in the wrestling industry. That will only come with some epic defenses and feuds. The open challenge could open that door, if Tony Khan decides that’s the way to go.
