The Independence Day edition of Monday Night Raw emanated from Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. WWE ran several segments and matches for the July 4th episode of the red brand. Although it was America’s birthday, they didn’t show the nation’s flag.

Sean Sapp reported from behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE actively avoided the use of the American Flag during the cookout segments that culminated in a hot dog eating contest between Angelo Dawkins, Otis and Akira Tozawa.

We’re told the American Flag was to be avoided being used in the cookout segments on Raw, stars and stripes were fine, but the actual flag was requested to be avoided if possible.

It is interesting that WWE avoided showing American flags, but they are also a worldwide product and need to appeal to every country on the globe.

WWE will return to the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, for the upcoming edition of Raw. The promotion has already advertised Brock Lesnar and Logan Paul for the show.
