Kevin Owens was set to face Ezekiel (or Elias or Elrod) on last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw with the final spot in Saturday’s Money in the Bank ladder match on the line. Unfortunately, the match had to be pushed back. Kevin Owens was unable to be in Laredo, Texas for the show.
Little is known about what kept Kevin Owens away from Raw this week. Owens himself tweeted that he simply didn’t want to be in Texas. Another report noted that whatever it was, the issue was minor.
Owens’ match with Ezekiel could be pushed to Friday’s episode of SmackDown. It all depends on whether KO is ready to go. Dave Meltzer talked about the situation on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.
“I did not check if Kevin Owens would be ready by Friday. I just know that he was not ready tonight, but it’s nothing serious, is what I was told. So, perhaps, he could be ready by Friday and they could do that match…
Kevin Owens is a guy that you kind of want in that match, you know because he’s really good at working with ladders and things like that. He’s got a lot of experience and he’s got a very high willingness to do crazy stuff. So, maybe the idea was for him to go in. I don’t know that he necessarily was going to win.”
Bryan Alvarez speculated that the battle royal qualifier was originally planned for SmackDown but was moved to Raw. The idea is that Owens might be ready to wrestle his match with Ezekiel on Friday night. As of right now, KO’s status for Money in the Bank is up in the air.
