Cody Rhodes recently underwent successful surgery to repair completely torn pectoral. Rhodes gave one of the gutsiest performances of all time when he worked through the injury and had a memorable match with Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell. WWE has repeatedly said that Cody will need 9 months off to rehab his injury, but Cody isn’t so sure about that.

Cody Rhodes shared a photo on his Instagram story as he prepared to begin rehabbing the injury. Rhodes said the sling was off, and he was ready to hit the gym. Cody also noted that 9 months is someone else’s plan. He is hoping to dictate the pace of his comeback.

“I’ve heard 9 months, that’s their plan… I’ve never concerned myself with other peoples projections – I’ve got a plan of my own – let’s finish, all of us.”

It was recently reported that Cody Rhodes would be returning to WWE sooner than the 9 months that the company has been saying on television. Most, including Cody, expect his rehab to be complete in time for the Royal Rumble. There, The American Nightmare could make his triumphant return and start his quest for a world championship in WWE.

Rhodes shockingly returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38. After leaving for several years to reinvent himself, he helped found AEW. Cody’s jumping ship sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, but he quickly became one of WWE’s top stars.

Cody is committed to making it back in less than nine months. Most people in the know have been saying six months all along. Still, giving the impression that he was able to return three months early will create yet another compelling storyline for Cody Rhodes.
