Adam Cole was pulled from a huge ten-man tag team match on last week’s AEW Dynamite. The winner of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament suffered an injury at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Cole is one of several top stars around the wrestling world who is out of action to heal up.
AEW has its massive Forbidden Door pay-per-view with NJPW coming up on June 26. With CM Punk injured and unable to compete, a lot of adjustments have been made to make the show work. Fortunately, Adam Cole’s injury will not affect his availability for that event.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez had plenty of major injuries to discuss. With the huge Forbidden Door pay-per-view coming up and being followed just days later by Blood and Guts on Dynamite, AEW will need all hands on deck. Bryan said it sounds like Adam Cole should be ready to go by then.
“[I was told] … Probably no Cole until Forbidden Door. They’re going to let him rest up.”
There is a chance that Adam Cole could be feeling better before then. It does not sound like AEW wants to risk it. With the world title picture already blurred and Bryan Danielson dinged up, AEW is going to take it easy with Cole.
Time will tell who Adam Cole will face at Forbidden Door. After CM Punk vs Hiroshi Tanahashi was thrown out, the situation became more fluid. Fortunately, Cole will be healthy enough to perform on a show where top names will need to step up.
