Jon Moxley is in a comfortable position in regards to picking up the AEW Interim World Title. He only has to beat a guy who wins a battle royal to get into that big Forbidden Door match. There is a reason for that.

Tony Khan broke out online to clear up why Moxley is in this spot. The former Dean Ambrose is in this situation because he is the #1 contender, a position he attained thanks to TK’s careful rankings system.

.@JonMoxley is the only AEW wrestler with 7+ 2022 singles bouts undefeated on TV (Dynamite/Rampage/Battle of the Belts) + PPV (Revolution/Double or Nothing).

(7-0. Moxley + @AnthonyOgogo only undefeated 7-0 records in AEW in 2022, Moxley ranked higher based on opponents quality.)

Moxley or the winner of the battle royal will go on to Forbidden Door to take on the winner of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto’s match at Dominion. There is a lot going on in AEW, as always, but CM Punk’s injury certainly mixed things up.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
