CM Punk has already established himself as one of the biggest stars in AEW since his debut last year. The new AEW World Champion, and AAA & ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR appear to be closer than ever. They are reportedly interested in teaming up for an AEW Trios Tournament.

After Sunday’s massive AEW Double Or Nothing main event win, FTR celebrated with Punk, as we previously reported. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood lifted Punk onto their shoulders and continued the celebration on stage. FTR entered the ring wearing a “Sons of The Hitman” t-shirt designed by a fan, which depicts WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart triumphing over Punk, Harwood, and Wheeler.

After Double Or Nothing, a fan tweeted a photo of FTR and Punk, commenting on how they’d make a good team for the AEW Trios Tournament. “Just give us the straps so we don’t have to damage your favorites,” Punk replied. On Sunday, Dax tweeted a snapshot of the post-match party, writing, “Hey guys. We’re doing alright.”

Dax also posted a photo of himself and Punk walking up the ramp after Double Or Nothing. Punk and FTR have recently exchanged compliments, with Punk and Jon Moxley defeating FTR on the February 9 AEW Dynamite, and Punk defeating Harwood in singles action on the March 23 show.
