WWE set Roman Reigns up in a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania Backlash. Many fans were expecting to see the Tribal Chief defend his Universal Title against Drew McIntyre, but they are saving that match. Still, other fans were expecting WWE to pay off a tease that Shinsuke Nakamura dropped weeks ago.

Nakamura seemingly challenged Roman Reigns during an episode of SmackDown, but nothing happened with that. Although WWE has seemingly stepped away from Nakamura vs Reigns, that match is still in their back pocket.

Ringside News asked around about this situation and we were told that “Nakamura is there for us to hit when it’s time.” A tenured member of the creative team confirmed that Nakamura’s match against Reigns, “won’t be a ‘stadium show,'” but he is “there for us to use with Roman when we need it.”

Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t been featured on WWE television for the past few weeks. Rick Boogs’ injury seemingly nixed that act for now after an unfortunate WrestleMania injury.

Fans shouldn’t lose hope on seeing Shinsuke Nakamura finally get his big one on one match against Roman Reigns. It just isn’t WWE’s biggest match for the Head of the Table at this time.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
