Randy Orton and Matt Riddle have become one of the most popular tag teams in WWE. The pair have incredible chemistry and play off of eachother very well on television. Combine that with excellent in-ring work and natural charisma, and WWE has winning pair.

The team was only supposed to be used to set up a feud between Orton and Riddle. When the fans took to the duo, plans changed. Overwhelming positive response to RK-Bro forced WWE to keep the two together.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about how the team as we know it came to be. WWE originally wanted them to be together for just three weeks. That kept getting extended little by little. Now, the two are one of the hottest acts in the tag team division.

“I think they’re just great as a team. Obviously, it was something they fell into because it was never… People know this, but the idea was for them to team for three weeks and have Randy Orton turn on Matt Riddle. That was the idea.

It didn’t happen, because it’s like, ‘Well, let’s go a little longer.’ And then, all of a sudden, it’s like, ‘We shouldn’t break these guys up.’ And hopefully, they remember that, that they shouldn’t break these guys up.

Although, you know, at some point, it is bound to happen, because it’s WWE. And when you have a tag team, unless it’s The New Day or something like that, and even with The New Day, there’s always people who always want to break them up. Sometimes you have to fight to stay together. There’s always that thing of wanting to break up the teams.”

RK-Bro has their biggest match yet coming up at WrestleMania Backlash. Randy and Riddle will take on the Usos in a match to unify the Raw and SmackDown tag team titles. It has been a long time since there was such a highly anticipated tag team bout in WWE. It almost never came close to happening.
