Jake “The Snake” Roberts is one of wrestling’s greatest redemption stories. The troubled grappler famously rose from the ashes after years of substance abuse on the road left him a shell of himself. Diamond Dallas Page stepped in to help get Roberts back on the right track. Since then, things have been going well.

Jake Roberts has been sharing stories from his legendary career on his DDP Snake Pit podcast. Roberts recently talked about a famous incident during his rivalry with Ricky Steamboat where he hit The Dragon with a DDT on the concrete during an early episode of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Jake didn’t want to do it, believing it was too dangerous.

Ultimately, Roberts went through with the spot. Jake said he thought he had killed his opponent right there on the arena floor. Roberts then went on to share that Ricky Steamboat is going through some serious health problems. Jake hopes his DDT didn’t have anything to do with it.

“To be quite honest with you, I know Steamboat’s having issues right now. I hope to hell it wasn’t what I did. I really do man, because that haunts me. That’s beginning to haunt me a lot. Ricky, if you’re listening, you know I never meant to do that. I didn’t want to do that. I begged you not to do that. I just pray for you man. He’s a good dude man.”

Jake did not elaborate on exactly what Ricky Steamboat was going through. The Snake is just hoping it had nothing to do with the DDT spot that he never wanted to happen in the first place. Regardless of how serious Steamboat’s health issue is, Roberts can’t help but feel some guilt.
