John Cena carried WWE for more than a decade. Cena dominated merchandise sales throughout the latter part of Ruthless Aggression as well as the PG Era. Before he was the Cenation leader, Cena portrayed the brash and outspoken Doctor of Thuganomics.

It was this gimmick that got him over with the crowd. Cena would humiliate his opponents with insulting rap before starting the match. AEW’s Max Caster has a similar gimmick. Not only is Caster extremely gifted, according to Cena, he is a better rapper than him.

In an interview with Forbes’ Alfred Konuwa, Cena finally answered the wild question that who would win in a rap battle between the Dr. of Thuganomics and Platinum Max. When asked if he could beat Caste in rap battle, Cena simply said, “No.”

“He’s extremely gifted. I remember hearing him for the first time, and asking a good friend of mine to please pass his information on to me. I immediately checked out his raps, out of the blue, and I saw what he was doing was spectacular.

“I wish him all the best of luck, but I can’t give him any advice because he’s punching far above my weight class. He is very gifted. He’s gifted enough to rhyme to the beat live, where I kind of did my stuff a cappella to let the punchlines sink in.

“Hip-hop constantly evolves, and it constantly moves forward, and he is the better version of what I did. He’s really, really spectacular. As long as he keeps everything in realistic perspective, he shows great potential.”

Caster is set to square off against CM Punk on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Cena never got to showcase his rap skills against Punk during their feud from 2011. We’ll have to wait to hear what bars Caster has in store for the Second City Saint tonight.
