Shad Gaspard’s tragic passing took place as he sacrificed himself to save his son. This saddened the entire wrestling community. His brave, selfless act is finally getting the honor it deserves by WWE for this year’s Hall of Fame.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reports they heard from elsewhere that Shad Gaspard will receive this year’s Warrior Award were confirmed to be true by those at WWE. The former Cryme Tyme member will receive this year’s Warrior Award. This was first reported by Brad Shepard on March 10th.

In May of 2020, Gaspard was found at the shoreline at Venice Beach, California, after being swept away by a strong rip current. The 39-year-old went swimming with his son at the beach when terrible waves swept them and other swimmers. His son was saved as Shad pushed him towards the lifeguard before he was pulled back down under a wave,

Gaspard’s former tag team partner JTG expressed not too long ago that he believes Gaspard should receive the Warrior Award for his heroic act. It was heavily speculated that WWE might do something for Gaspard during this year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony, and now that is confirmed.
