CM Punk had been in the ring well before making his return to wrestling with AEW. Punk took on an acting role on the hit Starz series “Heels.” Punk portrayed the dastardly territorial wrestler Ricky Rabies on the show.

AEW fans noticed that there was no sign of CM Punk on Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite. Punk will also not appear on tonight’s Rampage. That’s because the Second City Saint wasn’t even in the building.

Dave Meltzer wrote about CM Punk’s whereabouts in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Punk isn’t hurt, disgruntled, or taking extended time off. Starz simply needed him there to shoot the second season of Heels.

“C.M. Punk will be part of the filming of the second season of the TV show “Heels” on “Starz. Filming is over the next several weeks. That may be why he wasn’t on either show taped in San Antonio this week.”

CM Punk just wrapped up a fantastic feud with MJF in a brutal dog collar match at AEW Revolution. The emotional storyline ended with Punk finally beating MJF after months of torment. There should be plenty more awesome stories for Punk when he’s finished with his acting obligations.

Wrestling fans survived without seeing CM Punk in the ring from 2014 to 2021. One week off won’t hurt at all. Anyone who watched the first season of Heels knows it will be worth it to see Punk do his thing when new episodes finally drop.
