WWE Discussing Name Change For Elias

Elias had a great run in NXT where he became a fan-favorite in no time. Unfortunately, his run on the main roster was far from ideal. “The Drifter” Elias Samson was no more and what fans got instead ultimately disappointed.

A report came out last year where it was said that Elias’ new gimmick was shot down because he looked far too much like “Macho Man” Randy Savage. As we exclusively reported, Elias was seen backstage in WWE with no beard and cropped hair. Ringside News further reported that Elias’ name doesn’t come up in creative conversations anymore.

In fact, the scrapped version of Elias made its way onto the upcoming WWE 2K22 video game. According to Fightful Select, WWE has already filmed new vignettes for Elias. It was added that he has been tentatively slated for a return on Monday Night RAW.

However, it was further said that it “doesn’t really mean anything until firm plans are set.” Elias is also expected to have his name and gimmick changed when he returns.

It is not known when exactly The Drifter will make his return to WWE television. By the looks of it, it is likely to be sooner rather than later.
