Pat McAfee’s interview with Vince McMahon generated a lot of buzz this week. The former NFL star and WWE commentator scored a very rare sit-down interview with the WWE boss. McMahon has reportedly been booked for match with Pat at WrestleMania 38. The 78-year-old is pulling out all the stops to build up the hype to what’s being billed as the biggest WrestleMania ever.

Vince McMahon displayed his normal quirks even before arriving. Vince called McAfee when he was about fifteen minutes away. There was to be no prep. McMahon asked for the interview to start immediately while the crew mics him up.

Most viewers had no idea what to expect. Some believed the interview would be fully scripted to promote the WrestleMania match. McAfee went into the interview contending that the interview would be legitimate. Pat came out of the gate firing serious questions. During the conversation, the two talked about Vince McMahon’s love for confrontation.

“I’m probably one of the few people in the world who enjoys confrontation. I enjoy confrontation. It’s one of the things that really revs you up. It’s one of the things that really puts you on your toes. It’s one of those things… ‘OK, what am I going to do here’ in that split second.

I enjoy confrontation. Physical confrontation. I enjoy that, you know? So, with a background like that, and further background when I was a kid… We don’t want to hear another ‘bad kid’ story or something like that, but my philosophy… I learned a long time ago when I was a kid that if I live through that beating, I win.

So, if you live through the beating and you won, what can you do to me? So, in terms of competition, in terms of that confrontation, I’m not afraid of it. I relish it.”

That attitude can be seen in Vince McMahon’s management style. McMahon’s penchant for confrontation seems to come through in every move he makes. For Vince, it’s one of the keys to his massive success.
