Vince McMahon sat down with former NFL star Pat McAfee for an extremely rare interview this afternoon. McAfee is one of the most popular sports podcasters in the world. WrestleMania 38 is just around the corner, so the pairing made perfect sense.

There are also reports that Pat McAfee and Vince McMahon are booked for a match at WrestleMania. That left some cynics skeptical that the interview would be legit. It was surreal just watching Vince walk into the room.

In the lead-up to the interview, Pat noted that Vince McMahon had a huge WrestleMania announcement. The news came in the wake of Tony Khan’s reveal that he had purchased AEW. McMahon did his best to one-up his competition by announcing that he would personally be inducting The Undertaker into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend.

“Undertaker, of course, is going to be in the Hall of Fame. I’m going to have the distinction of inducting him into the Hall of Fame. This will be one of the most difficult things I have ever done in my entire life. I like the guy. I love the guy. We’ve known each other for so many years. We’ve been through all kinds of situations, some that we’re glad didn’t make the newspapers.

When you live on the road like that, when you have your family at home, when you live on the road, man, you have to have a family on the road. You have to have people that you can count on and rely on that are loyal and trustworthy and not have to look over your shoulder.

He’s that kind of guy. He’s an extraordinary human being as well as one of the all-time greats in the ring. It’s the human being… I could talk about the character and it won’t bother me at all. But, when I’m up there inducting him, I’m thinking about, ‘I know who he is.’ That’s tough when you know someone that’s that close and you care about them so much. It’s going to be one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done.”

Vince McMahon participating in the Hall of Fame personally is a very rare honor. McMahon values The Undertaker’s contribution to WWE over the years. Vince values their friendship even more.
