Asuka has not appeared in a WWE ring in quite some time. The Japanese superstar has been a fan favorite since she arrived in NXT. Asuka has teased and titillated fans with the idea that she will be back soon. The WWE Universe has been wondering why they’re not seeing Asuka on television lately.

Rumors came and went about Asuka making her return at the WWE Royal Rumble. When that didn’t happen, the rumor became that Asuka would be the final entrant in the women’s Elimination Chamber match. That spot was taken by Alexa Bliss and Asuka didn’t appear on the show.

News has been sparse on Asuka’s status with WWE. The reason for her absence has now been reported. Mike Johnson of PW Insider noted when asked about Asuka’s return that WWE simply has nothing for her creatively.

“Nothing yet.  The hope internally was for Asuka to return this month but obviously there’s been nothing for her creatively.  Other than hearing from fans who spotted her in Los Angeles recently, we haven’t heard anything additional on the Asuka front.”

With WrestleMania 38 just around the corner, many have been hoping for Asuka to have a storyline and a match at the show of shows. As of now, it appears there is nothing out there for her. Asuka will have to continue waiting as WWE looks for ways to use her.

The rumors about Asuka’s return will continue to fly until it happens. WWE has promised a lot of major surprises for WrestleMania. So far, none of that planning seems to include Asuka.
