Hulk Hogan ushered in a new era for professional wrestling when he beat Iron Sheik for the WWE (then WWF) Championship in a sold-out Madison Square Garden in 1984.

The historic victory would ultimately do wonders for both Hogan and Vince McMahon’s WWE. Hogan would become the company’s top and WWE would thrive on the success and popularity of Hulkamania for years to come.

Sheik, on the other hand, was already a despised character in the world of professional wrestling. Fans wanted him to lose and this is exactly what they got on January 23, 1984.

Despite putting over Hogan clean that night (because that was the right thing to do), Shiek never liked Hulkamania in real life. As a matter of fact, his hatred for ‘Brother’ is well documented.
