Hulk Hogan is one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling. Even today, long after his in-ring career, the Hulkster stirs up emotional reactions with every word he says. The Iron Sheik has been calling Hogan out for years.

Today, Hogan has fired back. It’s the 38th anniversary of what Hulk believes is a transformative moment in the wrestling business. Hogan became the first wrestler to escape The Iron Sheik’s camel clutch finisher and won his first WWF Championship at Madison Square Garden.

It was the beginning of the Hulkamania era. For better or worse, it was a huge time for pro wrestling. Hogan took a moment on his Instagram Story to remember the big day while low-key taking a shot at the Iron Sheik. Hulk didn’t even mention his adversary on that day.

“January 23rd, 1984. The wrestling business changed forever, brother. There will never be another time like that, dude.”

The Iron Sheik drags Hulk Hogan on social media whenever he gets a chance. The insults frequently come multiple times a day. Hulk Hogan has made it all about himself in this case.

The rivalry between The Iron Sheik and Hulk Hogan will probably continue for the rest of their lives. While they will never step foot in a ring together again, the passive aggressive approach of Hollywood and the in-your-face approach of Sheiky Baby will continue the story. We wouldn’t have the wrestling we know today if it wasn’t for this pivotal moment at MSG.
