AEW announced that they would be holding dual men’s and women’s Owen Hart tournaments in December of last year. Tony Khan’s company partnered with Owen’s wife, Martha, to plan the event. We now know when the Owen Hart tournaments will kick off.

AEW will be returning to Long Island on May 11 for a live Dynamite and Rampage taping. The company has had a great deal of success at the UBS Arena, even outselling WWE when the two ran the venue around the same time. AEW has put a major focus on doing well in the New York City market.

That show will also mark the beginning of the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments. The announcement was made by AEW on Twitter on Monday, February 14. Tickets for the event go on sale on Friday.

“#AEW returns to Long Island & the @UBSArena Wed, May 11 for a LIVE #AEWDynamite & #AEWRampage Taping featuring opening round matches of the #OwenHart Foundation Men’s & Women’s Tournament! On-sale THIS FRIDAY, Feb 18 at 10am ET”

The announcement comes shortly on the heels of a report that WWE was doing everything they could to recapture the New York market. Poor ticket sales at their Madison Square Garden holiday event caused the company to stack the next MSG card. Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar have been added to the show for some extra firepower.

There’s no word yet on who will be competing in the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments. There is sure to be news to follow shortly after this big announcement. AEW fans will have to stay tuned for more details.
