WWE has filed another new trademark. While it is not known exactly what the purpose is for, it appears the new name will be used for some type of event. WWE has been tinkering with their premium live event schedule and adding various new events, such as January’s first-ever Day 1 event.

The latest filing is for the name “WWE Sunday Stunner.” The trademark is otherwise unremarkable and follows the standard WWE trademark protocols. Protection was filed for the name on February 3, 2022. The entire description is as follows:

“Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information”

WWE president Nick Khan has been pushing for new streaming rights deals both in the United States and abroad. Khan sees a great opportunity to expand the brand as more buyers are looking for live entertainment and sports content. WWE Sunday Stunner could be a part of that strategy.

We’ll have to wait and see how WWE plans to use the name “Sunday Stunner.” It certainly sounds like a new premium live event could be on the way. There’s no word on whether the use of the word “Stunner” has anything to do with Steve Austin.
