Johnny Gargano was considered the face of NXT by many fans due to his excellent feuds with the likes of Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole. He has had various nicknames such as Johnny Wrestling, Johnny TakeOver and more and they are all for good reason.

As seen on a previous episode of NXT 2.0, Gargano made it clear that his status in NXT is up in the air. However, many fans realized that Johnny Gargano was done for good. That turned out to be true as he is now officially free agent.

Prior to this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite Beach Break, Gargano started trending on social media as fans expected him to debut in the show. During the episode, fans chanted for Johnny Wrestling.

However, Gargano did not make his debut during the episode as many had expected. Johnny Gargano took to Twitter and reacted to fans chanting his name during the show as he promised to make it up to fans for not debuting on the show.

I heard you and you have no idea how much it means to me that you’re excited to see me back at it. It’s scary to step away because your insecurities say “they’ll forget about you”.. but you haven’t forgotten and I promise that I will make it up to you asap. #JohnnyWrestling.”

Johnny Gargano also recently stated that he will work wherever fans call for him to work. We will have to wait and see what Johnny Gargano will ultimately decide for himself as AEW doesn’t seem to be in his immediate future.
