Sami Zayn’s WWE contract was quickly coming to an end late last winter. Sami’s good friend Kevin Owens shocked the wrestling world when he signed a huge contract to stay with WWE. Fans wondered when they’d hear some news about Zayn.

News about Sami Zayn’s contract never broke. There was a strange amount of silence from all parties involved in the negotiations. WWE was determined to keep Sami, though.

After months of speculation about his future, we now know that Sami Zayn recently re-signed a new deal with WWE. Fightful Select reported the news this morning. The negotiations went down quietly behind closed doors.

“Last month, it was reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there was backstage chatter that Sami Zayn re-signed with the WWE as his deal was coming due. Fightful Select has been able to confirm that Zayn did actually re-sign with WWE and is locked down for several more years. One person we talked to around that time said Zayn was kind of private about the negotiations, but that WWE made it clear they wanted to retain his services.”

Ringside News exclusively reported on December 20th that WWE writers were given the green light to start pitching long term story ideas for Zayn once again.

Sami Zayn’s contract was set to expire at the end of 2021. Owens was on the same schedule but made his new deal public shortly after it was signed. Sami preferred to take a quieter route.

Sammy Zayn has been feuding with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville in the lead up to the WWE Royal Rumble. WWE is hoping they can use the celebrity exposure to further push Sami. The WWE Universe is thrilled to hear that Sami is staying put!
