WWE is the dream for so many pro wrestlers, but it’s not for everyone. Some Superstars finally arrived in Vince McMahon’s company only to hit one snag or another. Sometimes the rigors of constant travel, bad creative, or the restrictive contracts causes a talent to request their release. During a time when WWE releases waves of wrestlers due to “budget cuts,” it’s hard to say no to someone who really wants out.

Toni Storm’s WWE exit surprised lot of people, both backstage and within the fan base. Many saw her trajectory as moving upward, but all those months in catering might have squashed her desire to be a WWE Superstar. She wanted out, so WWE granted that request.

Ringside News asked around about WWE’s open door for release requests. We were told that there is an “open door until it’s requested by someone we don’t want to release.”

We very well might see more Superstars exit the company on their own as time goes on. Each wave of WWE releases also sees reports saying there are some who wanted out. WWE granting those release requests for Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, and others.

WWE will do what they wish with the talent they have under contract. They obviously reserve the right to keep someone under their deal for as long as they can, even sending them home to freeze that contract if they so choose.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
