A few years ago, Kofimania was running rampant in WWE as fans rallied behind Kingston. It resulted in him winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 and he held the title for around six months. It seems Big E doesn’t want to repeat Kofi Kingston’s mistakes.

On the debut episode of WWE Smackdown on FOX, Brock Lesnar challenged Kofi Kingston for the title. In a move that still has fans question the booking decision, Brock Lesnar squashed Kofi Kingston in seven seconds in order to win the WWE Championship.

Since his loss, Kofi Kingston was relegated back to the tag team scene and never had another reign as the World Champion. Big E also lost his own WWE Title reign after WWE Day 1 at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Big E stated that the WWE Championship meant a lot to him and made it clear that he doesn’t want to repeat Kofi Kingston’s mistakes after Kingston lost the WWE Championship.

“I don’t want to position it as learning from Kofi’s missteps. I know what his intentions were, and mine would have been the same. He didn’t do anything wrong. But I have learned that losing this title hurts. I love being myself and being entertaining, but you can’t go from dropping a world championship to saying everything is golden. This title meant a lot to me, and it meant to a lot of people, too. My focus is clawing back to that spot.”

Big E also recently made it clear he isn’t happy with his WWE Championship run. Big E was also the favorite to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match this year. It remains to be seen what is next in store for BIg E.
