A couple of year ago, Kofimania was running rampant in WWE as fans rallied behind Kingston. It resulted in him winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 and he held the title for around six months.

On the debut episode of WWE Smackdown on FOX, Brock Lesnar challenged Kofi Kingston for the title. In a move that still has fans question the booking decision, Brock Lesnar squashed Kofi Kingston in seven seconds in order to win the WWE Championship.

While speaking to Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN, Kofi Kingston talked about his shocking loss to Brock Lesnar in a squash match. Kingston said that if it was up to him, the match would have been different. Kingston added that he isn’t mad about something that was beyond his control.

“I told a lot of people that if it was up to me, I would have had that match be different in the way that it went down. But the thing is, that it’s not up to me. I think what we need to realize is that you control what you can control. That’s it. I don’t get mad over what I can’t control. I show up to work, and it’s like, ‘What we’re doing? Ok, maybe we can do it like this, but we’re going to do it like this’. Then once you have the outline of what’s going to happen, that’s the way that you proceed.”

Ever since his shocking loss, Kofi Kingston has never been back in the main event title scene and it is unlikely he will ever again. However, that might be changing soon as Kingston beat WWE Champion Bobby Lashley in a singles match on last week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. We will have to see what is next in store for Kofi Kingston.
