WWE has jumped the gun in announcing a major Royal Rumble match on Twitter before the bout was set in stone. The matchup in question is Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns at the big premium live event. The WWE on Fox Twitter admitted the mistake late Friday evening.

The account tweeted and then deleted that Rollins vs Reigns was going to take place at the Rumble. The follow-up tweet then backed off from the statement. Adam Pearce was then asked to make the match official.

“So, about THAT tweet, we may have jumped the gun but we REALLY hope @ScrapDaddyAP makes it official ‘cause we need it.”

Roman Reigns recently returned after being sidelined because of a positive COVID-19 test. The Big Dog has his sights set on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Reigns will need an interim opponent for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
