Tonight’s SmackDown will feature a face to face meeting between Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the new WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman once again being aligned with Lesnar.

It should be interesting to see how things play out on tonight’s show.

SmackDown

SmackDown begins with a video package recapping this week’s Monday Night Raw with Paul Heyman advocating for the new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.

Live in the Mohegan Sun Arena, Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way out to the ring alone. Reigns stands alone in the ring and tells the crowd to acknowledge him. Reigns says he misses one week and it all falls apart. Reigns says he did a lot of thinking in isolation and there are two people he never wants to see again, Heyman and Lesnar. Immediately after saying this, Lesnar comes out to the ring with Heyman by his side.

Heyman begins his usual Lesnar promo when Lesnar stops him and takes the mic for himself. Lesnar mimics Heyman’s promo and introduces himself as the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Champion. Lesnar tells Reigns to acknowledge him in a mocking tone. Lesnar says that last Saturday he got the championship that he wanted, he tells Reigns it’s time to give everyone what they want, and challenges Reigns to a champion vs champion match. Reigns says it’s a good idea, but it’s not his idea. Reigns says it’s his show and they do what he says, on his time. Reigns calls out Heyman and Heyman starts talking to Reigns while crying and sounding like Reigns’ divorced spouse, while Lesnar is distracted talking to Heyman, Reigns hits a Superman punch and Reigns leaves the ring with Lesnar down on the mat.

Rick Boogs vs Sami Zayn

Our opening match begins with Zayn backing into a corner. After Boogs backs away Zayn charges forward and Boogs hits a belly to belly suplex. Boogs hits another suplex and Zayn rolls out of the ring.

Back live with Boogs hitting a gutwrench slam after tossing Zayn around. Zayn uses the ropes to take a cheap shot at Boogs and gain the upper hand. Zayn goes to the middle rope and hits a flying elbow, Zayn covers for two. Zayn goes for a second flying elbow and Boogs catches Zayn and puts him in a bear hug before transitioning to a vertical suplex attemot, Zayn hits a knee to initially bring Boogs to his knees, but Boogs powers back up and is able to hit the suplex. Zayn exits the ring and tries to flee over the barricade but Boogs catches Zayn and brings him back. Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura stare down before Boogs takes advantage of the distraction with a roll up for three.

Winner: Rick Boogs

After the match, Johnny Knoxville sneaks in the ring and throws Zayn over the top rope, the ring announcer makes it official by announcing that Knoxville has qualified for the Royal Rumble match.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair makes her way out to the ring dressed in her ring gear.

Back live with Charlotte in the ring, Charlotte says that her new year’s resolution was to make history. Charlotte says that the Royal Rumble match changes lives and Charlotte introduces a video package showing off some of the participants in the upcoming Women’s Royal Rumble match. Charlotte says she will introduce a special participant in the Royal Rumble match, Charlotte says this participant is someone they all admire, and Charlotte announces she will be in the match herself.

Charlotte is interrupted by Naomi who comes out and says that Charlotte doesn’t have to wait to WrestleMania to challenge the opponent of her choosing, and she can defend her title against Charlotte tonight. Charlotte says that Naomi has done nothing to deserve a title match, Naomi responds by slapping Charlotte across the face and Charlotte rolls out of the ring.

*Commercial break*

Charlotte Flair vs Naomi

The match begins with Charlotte throwing Naomi into the corner. Charlotte goes to throw Naomi to the corner again but Naomi escapes with a kick and hits a sliding lariat on the mat. Naomi goes for a cover that Charlotte quickly kicks out of. Charlotte kips up and goes for an Irish Whip that Naomi reverses and hits double boots to the face. Naomi goes up top but Charlotte hits a big boot to send Naomi flying to the floor outside the ring. Charlotte rolls out of the ring and throws Naomi into the barricade. Naomi gets the upper hand and rolls in the ring and Sonya Deville comes out to announce that the match cannot be won via count out. Charlotte takes advantage of the distraction and attacks Naomi from behind.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown continues with Charlotte having Naomi in a chin lock on the mat. Naomi escapes and hits a kick out of the corner. Naomi hits a leg drop and covers for two. Naomi goes to the top rope and hits a flying cross body and Naomi covers for two. Naomi goes for the Rear View but Charlotte counters and locks in the Figure Eight and Naomi reaches the rope and Deville announces that the match cannot be won via DQ. Naomi goes for a sunset flip but Charlotte avoids it by grabbing the rope. Charlotte hits a moonsault and covers for a two count. Naomi gets a crucifix pin but Charlotte kicks out. Naomi flips out of a back suplex and gets a roll up for two. Charlotte hits a back breaker in the corner and goes for a power bomb but Naomi counters with a face buster. Charlotte throws Naomi off the ring post and hits the Natural Selection for three.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

Happy Corbin makes his way out to the ring for an upcoming Happy Talk segment.

SmackDown returns with Corbin in the ring for Happy Talk. Corbin shows off a video from Day 1 where Corbin attacked McIntyre in the backstage area after McIntyre’s match. Corbin introduces the guest for Happy Talk, Drew McIntyre. Madcap Moss enters the arena in a kilt, walking with a cane and a tiny sword. Moss gets in the ring and Corbin helps him sit down. Moss speaks in a Scottish accent and says that he would stand no chance in a match with Corbin, Moss says that he will milk this injury for the rest of his life and Moss laughs hysterically and says it’s him and not actually Drew McIntyre. The Viking Raiders run out to the ring as a tag team match is announced.

Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss vs The Viking Raiders

The match begins with Ivar body slamming Moss. Moss makes a tag, Ivar ducks the big boot and hits one of his one and tags in Erik. Corbin hits the deep six and covers for two. Moss is tagged in and Moss hits a fallaway slam. Moss hits a forearm strike in the corner and follows with multiple right hands. Erik escapes the corner and hits a knee and Corbin pulls Ivar off the apron to prevent the tag. Moss hits the punchline and covers for three.

Winners: Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss

SmackDown Tag Team Championships

The Usos vs The New Day

Our championship street fight begins with Kofi and Jimmy Uso. Kofi and Woods make a series of quick tags before Jey Uso runs in and the match turns in to the street fight as advertised.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with the teams fighting at the top of the stage. Jimmy Uso is thrown off the LED video board. Jimmy bounces Kofi off the ring apron and Woods hits Jimmy with a super kick. Woods hits a tornado DDT to Jey in the ring and covers for two. Jimmy hits Woods with s Samoan drop and covers for two. Jey Uso reaches under the ring and throws a roll of duct tape to Jimmy and The Usos tape Woods to the rope. Kofi takes out both Usos and manages to free Woods from the tape. Outside the ring The Usos hit Kingston with the steel stairs. The Usos then follow up by hitting Woods with the stairs.

Our main event continues live with Kingston hitting a cross body with Jimmy on Woods’ shoulders. Woods reaches under the ring and pulls out a spartan helmet and armor and Woods puts on the helmet, Jey goes for a super kick, but the helmet protects Woods and Kofi hits with the armor. Woods goes outside of the ring and brings out a table. Woods sets up the table in the corner. Jey hits Kofi with a superkick and Kofi hits surprise trouble in paradise, Kofi covers but Jimmy breaks it up. The Usos hit a double super kick to Kofi. The Usos move the table to the center of the ring and hit a 3D and Jimmy covers for three.

Winners: The Usos

Roman Reigns is seen watching in his locker room when he hears a knock on the door. Seth Rollins walks in to stand in front of Reigns and laugh maniacally as SmackDown goes off the air.
