Mickie James is one of the most respected female veterans in the pro-wrestling industry. As she has worked across many promotions in her 20+ years of working, she’s worked with WWE as well.

James returned to IMPACT earlier this year. In her years with WWE, she urged transformation of the treatment that WWE divas received. However, she recently expressed that her insights were used to optimize others. Regardless, it seems she will be returning to WWE to make some more changes, though only temporarily.

The Knockouts World Champion Mickie James is going to appear in the January 29 Royal Rumble event. However, it’s unclear whether she’s going to appear as the Knockouts World Champion, or in her own capacity. The news came straight from the latest SmackDown episode.

PWInsider confirmed the news with IMPACT Wrestling Executive Vice-President Scott D’Amore. D’Amore stated that it was a deal that both WWE and Mickie James wanted, and all the paperwork for it is already done.

WWE wanted it, Mickie wanted it and IMPACT Wrestling’s philosophy is always to work with other major promotions to create buzz for the fans. Everything is signed and agreed with WWE and IMPACT Wrestling – the only question is whether or not Mickie will enter one of WWE’s most historic annual matches as the reigning Knockouts World Champion.

James will be defending her championship against Deonna Purrazzo at the HARD TO KILL pay-per view. The event is scheduled for a day before her appearance in the Royal Rumble. Only her performance at the event can confirm whether she’ll get back in the ring as a victor or not.
