WWE NXT has undergone a lot of major changes over the past several months. The brand was totally re-imagined. This included letting go of a ton of talented wrestlers while giving the traditional black and gold brand a rainbow-colored reboot.

One of the constants through all the turmoil has been NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. The champ won his second NXT title on the debut of NXT 2.0 back in September. He has held the title for the duration of the NXT 2.0 era.

Ciampa recently reached a major milestone in his second reign at the top. Tommaso Ciampa has now reached 100 days as NXT Champion. The previous title holder, Samoa Joe, had to vacate the title due to injury after just three weeks.

In his first reign, Tommaso Ciampa held the NXT Championship for 238 days. Injury cut that reign short. He handed over the title in March of 2019. Ciampa then underwent spinal fusion surgery on his neck before making an incredible recovery.

Ciampa’s current reign started on September 14, 2021. He defeated LA Knight, Von Wagner, and Pete Dunne in a four-way match to declare a new champ after Samoa Joe dropped the title. Since then, he has feuded with upstart Bron Breakker over the belt.

Tommaso Ciampa will try to further lengthen his current championship run on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He is set to take on Breakker at NXT New Year’s Evil. It is likely a matter of time before Bron has his moment. Tommaso Ciampa doesn’t want to let “Goldie” go without a major fight.
