Brock Lesnar was not supposed to win the WWE Title at Day 1 on January 1st. He was inserted into a fatal four-way match, one that Seth Rollins originally had locked down a singles contest. The road to WrestleMania is set to kick off at the Royal Rumble, but the company is still going forward with their plans despite those big Day 1 changes.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the creative team that “the Mania plans have not changed” for Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. This was explicitly told to the writing team after they had to shuffle things around at Day 1.

Furthermore, the writing team was told that “this change will only enhance the Roman, Heyman, Brock story.” It appears that WWE will find a way to circle back around to the babyface Beast Incarnate vs the Tribal Chief at the show of shows.

Smackdown writers were told to be prepared for Roman Reigns to be there and not be there on Friday. They were also told that Lesnar is still on Smackdown. Brock Lesnar declared himself free agent during the WWE Draft thanks to Paul Heyman, so it appears that WWE is utilizing that loophole for Lesnar.

We will have to see what happens in this situation. Hopefully, Roman Reigns will test negative for COVID-19 very soon and get back to running SmackDown. He also has to deal with Brock Lesnar who had a very big night in Atlanta.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
