AJ Styles recently appeared on NXT 2.0 to confront the brand’s main bad boy, Grayson Waller. The two exchanged some heated words. Many believed it was one-off to pop a rating for the struggling show against the NFL.

On last night’s Raw, Waller appeared on Raw to continue the storyline. It felt like it was tacked on to make up for Omos not being in Detroit for his scheduled match with Styles. That was not the case at all.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider has reported that the plans were made at the same time Eric Bischoff was locked down for his surprise appearance. Those plans were made on January 23, several days before the show. It seems as though the NXT – Raw crossover feud is a go.

WWE has been setting Grayson Waller up as one of the top heels in NXT. He was the one who attacked Johnny Gargano after his emotional farewell speech. Now, he’s going after one of the top stars on Raw.

Vince McMahon recently relaxed his stance on having NXT stars appear next to main roster wrestlers. The fear is that something could happen in NXT that could then affect plans for the main roster. With NXT ratings waning, the boss had a change of heart.

Time will tell how the feud between Grayson Waller and AJ Styles will play out. Styles was involved in the storyline with Omos, but that is now up in the air. Waller will try to step in and steal the spot. It’s exactly the way his snarky character would want things.
