Professional wrestlers know that when they step through the curtain, they are going to get some negative reactions from fans. The biggest babyface stars of all time like John Cena and Hulk Hogan even faced their share of boos during their legendary runs. Nobody is immune from some level of fan backlash.

There is an unspoken line of respect that sometimes gets crossed. There have been several such incidents as of late. Seth Rollins was attacked by fan on live television. Tay Conti was bullied online after rumors about her personal life emerged. The most recent example came when fan held up a transphobic sign targeting Nyla Rose during AEW’s Dynamite: Holiday Bash.

Nyla Rose made history as the first trans athlete to appear on a major national pro wrestling stage. She has handled the responsibility that comes with being such a pioneer extremely well. Nyla’s wife, Kelenna Mills, addressed comments made by Jim Cornette about the incident via social media. She minced no words when responding to Cornette’s opinion.

“Irrelevant boomer has another nostalgic moment about not being about to use the n-word anymore. There I fixed it for you.”

Jim Cornette is known to be open about his old-school viewpoints. In this case, he failed to recognize that the sign wasn’t about faces and heels and cheering your favorite wrestlers. There was no reason to hold up such a sign other than hatred.

Cornette will continue to share his beliefs and viewpoints unabashedly. He has made a career of it. Nyla and Kelenna have handled the situation as well as anybody could expect. There is simply no room for hatred in a business that wants to shake off its sketchy roots and fit into the mainstream.

What do you think of Nyla Rose’s reaction to Jim Cornette? Let us know in the comments!
