The latest WWE video game has seen its share of problems. Delays caused by a strained relationship between WWE and the developer slowed things down. Then, WWE roster changes added to the delays.

Fightful Select spoke to some recently released WWE performers about their experience with the game. Wrestlers had a surprising amount of input into their in-game characters. They tried to make their faces and moves look as accurate as possible using state of the art scanning and motion capture technologies.

Each wrestler had the facial scan done. They’d also do another scan if the wrestler had tattoos to ensure they were accurately depicted. Finally, they are sent videos of the motion capture to give feedback on the accuracy of their moves.

The game was originally planned to have a large roster of NXT wrestlers. With the roster changes and the game already being delayed several times, it might be unlikely that they’re included at release. Those wrestlers may become downloadable content down the line.

The plan originally was to include a robust amount of NXT talent, though we’re unsure how many of the new stars will be added.

The next WWE video game isn’t set for any formal announcements until 2022. The last few releases have been absolute disasters. The company took some time off from doing main-line video games while the kinks were worked out.

Now, we’re closer every day to a new WWE game. Nervous fans who have lost faith in WWE to deliver a quality video game will have to be blown away to get back on board. Time will tell if they finally got it right.

Do you have any faith in WWE and the developers to deliver a good game? Let us know in the comments!
