Carmelo Hayes Says Learning From Shawn Michaels Is The Biggest Flex Of His Career

Carmelo Hayes has considered Shawn Michaels to be one of his biggest mentors in professional wrestling. The NXT North American Champion received high praise from HBK after capturing his title. Michaels recently took on Carmelo as “special project.”

A fan recently asked Carmelo what it was like to work with Michaels on Twitter. Once again, Hayes didn’t hesitate to put over his mentor big time. He said working with Shawn Michaels is the biggest flex of his career.

“Biggest flex of my career is learning from HBK. Someone who’s seen it and done it all at the highest level teaching and explaining not just wrestling but the business. Every convo we have makes me better.”

Since signing with WWE in February of 2021, Carmelo Hayes has enjoyed an excellent run in NXT. He’s challenged for the Cruiserweight title and even wrestled Adam Cole in just his second match. Now, he says he’s the “A Champion” of NXT.

After winning the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament over Odyssey Jones, Hayes captured the gold from Swerve Scott in mid-October. The company is very high on Carmelo, making him one of the faces of the new NXT. Working with a legend like Shawn Michaels has been a huge lift for Carmelo Hayes.
