Roman Reigns and Xavier Woods battled in the main event of SmackDown this week. The two fought for the right to say they rule over SmackDown and Roman Reigns suffered his first loss in 698 days. That loss was via DQ and then Reigns bent his knee to receive Woods’ crown.

Xavier Woods’ status as King of the Ring is unknown right now. Roman Reigns declared that the Bloodline as The Kings of SmackDown now. As it turns out, this was a change of plans.

Ringside News was informed by a tenured member of the creative team that plans for the bended knee stipulation were changed. This change came after Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman met with Vince McMahon around 5:00 PM EST on the day of the show.

The “King” storyline seems to be a late day change as the writers and producers were told Roman and Heyman were meeting with Vince around 5pm and then the script changed about the “bended knee” stip.
