WWE superstar Drew McIntyre has teased a country rendition of his old theme “Broken Theme” for next year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) event. The best part, McIntyre wants none other than Willie Nelson to sing the hit theme song.

WWE have already announced the venue for SummerSlam 2022. According to details, Nashville will be hosting the “biggest party of the summer” for the first time in the event’s history. The usual August spectacle will take place in July.

A resident of Nashville, McIntyre is more than thrilled about SummerSlam 2022 coming to his hometown. “Yes, awesome. Nashville deserves it,” he told Battleground Podcast during an interview.

“This was always one of my favorite places to wrestle at the Bridgestone when I didn’t live in Nashville. But now that I’ve been here for a few months, I’ve interacted with, you know, the locals like they truly love wrestling. They truly love WWE and deserve a pay-per-view of this magnitude. SummerSlam is one of our big 4 events of the year and the fact is going to be in a stadium.

“It’s going to be in the Nissan Stadium and I’m the hometown boy now, the Scottish Warrior, originally, but now I’m the Nashville Warrior, the Scottish Cowboy, the hometown boy, very excited about it. Wear my cowboy boots, got my cowboy hat, wear the coat. That’s something I wear in real life, for real.”

The former WWE Champion also revealed his idea for the SummerSlam 2022 main event: a title shot against current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He added that he’d love to walk to the ring to a country song rendition of his old entrance theme, “Broken Dreams.”

“Everyone’s been asking for [Broken Dreams], so they better all know the words to it. Let’s make it happen. SummerSlam. Main event. Fight Roman Reigns for the title. Willie Nelson singing ‘Broken Dreams’ to the ring. Boom. Love it.”

McIntyre was recently drafted to SmackDown as part of the WWE Draft. Prior to his move to the blue brand, the 36-year-old enjoyed a lengthy world title reign that saw him defeat the likes of Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton.
