AEW President Tony Khan has announced the opponents for FTR in their open challenge defense of the AAA Tag Team titles. Khan said he wants FTR to defend the lucha libre belts against the best masked luchadores. One of those opponents is a former WWE Superstar.

Khan told Wrestling Observer Live today that since FTR refuses to wrestle the Lucha Bros, he is delivering what he thinks is the next best thing. The titles will be on the line when FTR squares off with Samuray Del Sol and Aerostar.

“They will not wrestle the Lucha Bros, they want to take on other masked Luchadors to prove that FTR are the greatest Lucha team of all time. They will not wrestle the Lucha Bros, so I went out to get the best Luchadors to face FTR, so FTR are going to defend the AAA Tag Team Titles against Samuray Del Sol and Aero Star. Yep. Breaking news.”

Wrestling fans will recognize Samuray del Sol as former WWE superstar Kalisto. Aero Star is currently working full time with the AAA promotion and is known as a luchador who takes crazy risks in his matches. He’s worked in the U.S. with well-known independent outfits Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Chikara.
