Roman Reigns is one of the biggest names in wrestling at the moment, and arguably WWE’s top guy. It seems that Reigns’ stardom is unparalleled, even by the likes of Daniel Bryan.

Bryan is a four-time WWE Champion and WrestleMania main-eventer. Despite this, it seems that he was never considered a “top guy” in the same way that Reigns is.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that despite Bryan’s popularity amongst the fans, the WWE management never saw him as a top guy.

Keep in mind while they absolutely liked him and saw him as a star, even as he saved a WrestleMania and sports teams throughout the country were doing “Yes,” chants, they never thought he was the top guy and that Roman Reigns was, because they know more than the fans.

To add insult to injury, Danielson also lost his last match against Roman Reigns, which came with the stipulation that upon losing, Danielson would have to leave SmackDown.

Since Bryan’s contract with WWE was already up, the wrestler decided to move to AEW instead. While he showed a lot of promise during his WWE career, ultimately the management picked Roman Reigns over him as the face of WWE.
