Social media fandom can be toxic. Wrestling fans on the internet are seen to get triggered immediately. They forget that the wrestlers they see on television play characters within a predetermined scenario.

Some fans are annoying. Others are outright weirdos who boo and criticize wrestlers for stating their opinion. The same context can be applied to the heat directed towards MSK.

The current NXT Tag Team champions face a hostile reaction from the crowd in attendance whenever they walk out of the Gorilla. That’s strange because a) they’re a face tag team and b) they’re arguably one of the best tag teams in the WWE.

MSK have been receiving a negative reaction from the crowd since their debut on the black and gold brand in January this year. BodySlam reported on a Reddit post that gives a possible explanation behind the crowd’s heat with MSK.

The said post makes mention of a tweet by Nash Carter sent out three years ago. The one-half of MSK had criticized a spot that included a teenage girl who took a chokeslam at in Indy show. The girl was none other than Izzy, a 13-year-old who got visibly upset during the Sasha Banks vs Bayley match at NXT Takeover: Respect.

The post alleges that Izzy’s parents took offence to Carter’s words and later managed to turn a group of vocal NXT fans against the current tag team champions. The rumor has been going around on social media since this year’s February.

Some sources went as far as saying that the NXT management asked the parents as well as their sympathizers to change places ahead of NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver because they were caught on camera with anti-MSK chants. NXT officials reportedly got wind of this from an audience member who apparently overheard the conversation.

The sources added that the seating of the contingent has since been changed and they were no longer sitting on their usual seats following the NXT PPV. One member a of the group allegedly asked others to direct “Your dad’s dead” chant towards Carter.
