WWE introduced a lot of new characters to NXT as they morphed into NXT 2.0. Joe Gacy’s character received a huge change since the last time fans saw him in the Breakout Tournament. Now he has a “woke” cancel culture gimmick as a conflict resolution specialist. That gimmick got some serious attention and WWE is happy.
Gacy made a point to say that he is not cancelled on NXT 2.0 this week. That came after his character’s segment was pulled from WWE’s social media. That might have all been by design.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that since Fox News picked up the story about Joe Gacy, the company is very happy about how his new gimmick is working out at this point.

Joe Gacy is not going to back down with this new gimmick and if WWE is behind him then he can take things even further. We’ll have to see what happens in the future, but NXT 2.0 might have a new mainstream star because of this woke gimmick.
