AEW opened their doors with a few big names as EVPs. Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks all share that title, but they do not perform the same functions at all. The company started in one direction, but Tony Khan was always the boss and his influence in the company has only grown from their start.

According to a new report from Bodyslam.net, AEW’s creative process changed a lot since the company began. Sources reportedly stated that creative responsibility was taken away from Omega, Rhodes, and The Bucks. It is 100% Tony Khan’s show now.

Sources within the company have told me that creative was essentially completely taken away from the EVP’s, as basically everything now comes through/down to Tony Khan.

It was reported that stars are “allowed and encouraged” to pitch whatever idea they might have. That being said, Tony Khan is still the final decision maker for the company’s creative direction.

“Creative is absolutely Tony Khan’s prerogative now,” one source told the outlet. He also maintains full control of AEW Rampage, AEW Dark, and AEW Dark: Elevation

It was previously reported that Tony Khan took over editing responsibilities for AEW Dark as well. Khan also recently stated in an interview that he believes AEW runs better with every new job he takes on. He seems to be doing a good enough job as their viewership remains consistently impressive with demographics that either match or beat WWE Raw.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
