WWE has a lot of future Superstars in their NXT brand. NXT UK is still going hard as they supply pro wrestling fans with action across the ocean. It turns out that William Regal’s son is a part of that excitement despite the fact that Regal tried to keep his son’s identity a secret.

Bailey Matthews’ name was changed to Charlie Dempsey, but they are still avoiding the “Regal” last name. It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the belief is that it was William Regal’s call to avoid giving his son the “Regal” last name to avoid pressure on him.

It was also noted that William Regal actively tried to keep his son’s identity a secret to avoid the pressure of being a second generation Superstar.

Bailey Matthews, who is the son of William Regal, is now going to use the name Charlie Dempsey. I believe in his case not using the famous Regal name isn’t as much a WWE decision as much as Regal himself wanting his son not to have the pressure on him of his father’s name. When he started, it was largely kept a secret that he was Regal’s son, unlike the case of most second generation wrestlers

Charlie Dempsey is just getting started in NXT UK, and he has a bright future ahead of him. Even if WWE doesn’t give him “Regal” as his last name that doesn’t change his exceptional background and how his father’s presence in the company could provide him with an edge over others on the roster.
