Gran Metalik requested his release from WWE months after Andrade did the same. It was reported that he grew frustrated with his spot in the company as creative has nothing for him. As of this writing, it appears that WWE is keeping him under contract, but that could change.

Metalik joins a growing list of Superstars who requested their release from WWE. Others simply allow their WWE contracts to run out, but some are also released. At this point Gran Metalik is looking for WWE to request his release request.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about this situation. He also noted that it is very likely that WWE will grant that release request.

I think there’s a good chance that they’ll release him because their mentality is different. In 2019 it would have been much different because they wouldn’t want him to go.

Gran Metalik’s WWE contract runs up in 2023, so he is wanting out years prior to his expiration date. If they do let Metalik go then Lince Dorado will be the last remaining member of the Lucha House Party.

WWE has been known to make Superstars wait a very long time before granting their release requests. Andrade received his approval in quick fashion, but Brodie Lee had to wait for months before Vince McMahon’s company finally let him go. We will have to see what’s next in this situation, but it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see WWE let Gran Metalik go.
