Bron Breakker is the subject of a lot of conversation, especially the reason why WWE changed up his name. Rick Steiner’s son received a new moniker in WWE and announcers were reportedly told not to mention Breakker’s father. There was a reason why they changed around his name.

According to a report from PW Insider, Bron Breakker’s name was likely switched up so WWE could have something to copyright. They like to own every name on their television show and WWE pivoted from using “Rex Steiner” for that reason.

We are told you can expect quite the push for Bron Breaker in the weeks ahead. For those who have asked why WWE quickly pivoted from his initially planned (and awesome) ring name of Rex Steiner, one source pointed to the company wanting to create and own the trademarks of all their talents’ ring names as the likely reason for the switch.

We’ll have to see what’s next for Bron Breakker, but it appears that there are huge plans for him in NXT 2.0. His showdown with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa was a also an apparent clue that Breakker’s big win over LA Knight won’t be his last highlight match in WWE’s developmental brand.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
