WWE had an idea for Adam Cole to stick around the company which would have seen him become a heel manager on the main roster. This was originally reported by Ringside News. It was later revealed that Keith Lee was his intended client, but even more changes were expected for Adam Cole.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE would have probably changed around Adam Cole’s name as well. This would have been to avoid confusion between Mr. Bay Bay and WWE announcer Michael Cole.

WWE changed up names in the past to avoid confusion. We have no idea what WWE would have named Adam Cole instead, but it’s very likely that his “Bay Bay” catchphrase wouldn’t have worked with whatever they picked for him.

Adam Cole doesn’t have to worry about his name changing now that he’s with AEW. Tony Khan’s company has a lot more in mind for him other than simply becoming a heel manager as well.
