Kenny Omega is currently on one of the best runs of his career. Omega winning the AEW World Championship in December kick started his run as the heel champion at the top of AEW. With his successful title defense against Christian Cage at All Out, Omega seems poised to continue his run.

Kenny Omega’s recent success has landed him in the number one spot in the annual PWI 500 list. Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranks the top 500 wrestlers from all over the globe in their yearly list.

Omega was ranked number one for the second time in his career. Omega last achieved the number one spot in 2018, shortly after capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to conclude his legendary feud with Kazuchika Okada.

Omega rose up the list highly from the previous year. In the 2020 list, Omega came in ranked number 13, in a list topped by then AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Omega is back on top of PWI’s list as well as the AEW card after many were disappointing in his first year in AEW.

In case you were wondering, the top 10 are as follows:

  1. Kenny Omega
  2. Roman Reigns
  3. Bobby Lashley
  4. Drew McIntyre
  5. Kota Ibushi
  6. Jon Moxley
  7. Will Ospreay
  8. Finn Balor
  9. Shingo Takagi
  10. Rich Swann

Omega as AEW’s heel world champion is likely to use his top ranking in the world as a way to generate arrogant heel heat going forward as champion.
